Pixels Forward

The challenge

Pixels Forward is a digital campaign showing K-12 girls, especially those from underrepresented communities, that careers in tech belong to them. The mission was clear and the content was real: education, mentorship, and first-hand stories from women working in the field, published in both English and Spanish.

What the site could not do was reach people who were not already looking for it. A campaign that exists to be discovered by girls, parents, teachers and mentors has to be findable by the tools those people actually use, and it has to work for every one of them, including anyone browsing with a screen reader or a keyboard. The site was built to inform. It was not yet built to be found.

The road

We worked three streams at once, because for this site they are the same problem seen from three angles.

Accessibility. A pass against WCAG 2.2 AA: text contrast, heading order, alt text that describes the image rather than naming the file, keyboard navigation that reaches everything, and language declared correctly on each version of each page so a screen reader pronounces Spanish as Spanish.

SEO. The foundations a site needs before ranking is even a fair question: real page titles and descriptions, canonical URLs, a sitemap and robots file, and hreflang so search engines understand that the English and Spanish pages are the same content for two audiences rather than duplicates competing with each other.

AI visibility. Structured data describing the organization and what it actually does, an llms.txt so AI crawlers get a clean map of the site, and content shaped so an assistant asked "where can a girl learn about careers in tech?" has something specific and quotable to draw from.

The found

Pixels Forward now has a site that matches its mission: usable by the people it is for, legible to search engines in both languages, and readable by the AI assistants that a growing share of parents and students ask first. The rebuild is rolling out to the live site now.
